When we first unwrapped the Montessori Sensory Teething Toy (aka our “rainbow chew ball”), we almost laughed: it looked like a miniature, colorful Ferris wheel crossed with a rattle. But within five minutes, our little girl had grabbed it, turned it, squeezed it, and put a chewy nub in her mouth. It was love at first grasp.
We'd been hunting for a teether that did more than just sit in her hand. This one promises:
Multi-sensory stimulation: It has 12 bright colors, varied textures, and little silicone nubs for chewing.
Rattle & click action: Parts twist, rotate, and make gentle sounds when shaken, which helps with auditory exploration.
Baby-friendly materials: Made from food-grade silicone and ABS plastic, it passed ASTM / CPC certifications according to the listing.
Compact & lightweight: At roughly 10.5 × 10.5 × 7 cm (4.1 × 4.1 × 2.8 in), it fits small hands well.
So when ours arrived, we placed it next to our baby's tummy time mat. The first time she saw all those colors, her eyes went wide. She reached, her fingers fumbled at first, but then she latched on and started chewing.
Wins:
It holds attention. On a long travel day, this little toy was a lifesaver, she sat quietly, turning and chewing.
It offers relief. During tough teething spells, the nubs gave her something safe to gnaw on.
It encourages experiment. She twisted parts, dropped it, picked it back up, shook it - each action seemed to teach her cause & effect.
It’s easy to clean. A quick rinse, mild soap, and air dry was enough.
Worth noting:
The rattle is gentle, but after repeated use it becomes familiar. It doesn’t compete with louder toys.
On carpet, the toy doesn’t roll or move much - it’s more of a hand-held experience than a chase toy.
Very occasionally, she’d chew near a seam, so we inspect it regularly for wear. It seems to be holding up really well!
Final thoughts & tips
If you want a teether that does double duty - soothing gums and supporting sensory growth - this toy is a solid pick. Just supervise, inspect it occasionally, and rotate it with other toys so it doesn’t become old news.
